Description

This is an introductory level course  for anyone that is new to ISO14001, environmental management or  management systems in general.

It is designed to give you an understanding of the purpose and requirements of the standard.
ISO14001 is the most popular environmental management certification in the world and certification to the standard is a mark of an  organisation's commitment to environmental sustainability which is increasingly critical in today's business world to manage risks and  opportunities, attract customers and employees and maintain good  relationships with stakeholders.
This course is most suited to those who are considering ISO14001  implementation, working in an organisation with a 14001 certificate (or  that is working towards one) or anyone looking to expand their knowledge and watch their environmental career take off by gaining an  understanding of the world's most popular environmental management system. The course is based on the most recent update of the standard  (the 2015 version) and will highlight the key differences between this  and the previous (2004) version - critical knowledge for any  environmental professional!
The course will start by taking you through understanding what  ISO14001 is and a brief history of its development and relationship to  other standards. We will talk about why you should consider implementing  ISO14001 and the costs and benefits of doing so. Next, we look at what  the individual clauses of the standard are in brief while focusing in on  three key clauses (Leadership, Environmental Aspects and Continuous  Improvement) for a more in depth understanding. Finally we will discuss  required documentation in an ISO14001 management system and how your  organisation can become certified to the ISO14001:2015 standard  including key things to look for when appointing your certifying body.
Downloadable templates and examples are provided throughout the  course to support you. These can be adapted to suit your organisation in  developing your own ISO14001:2015 compliant management system.
Please note, this course was originally developed for a different format to Udemy's platform. As a result, quizzes which are mentioned throughout have been combined into a single final quiz.
***This course is no longer being updated or managed as of February 2021. It remains available for those interested in the subject matter and for reference of previous students.
